Magical Personal Libraries

Magical Library
We are moving from a world where we personalize our computers by downloading personalized applications that suit our workflows, to a world where we personalize our software through our data and context. When software can be generated on the fly, it's the information that it acts on that is unique to you and that makes it work for you.
We need an easy way to personalize tools with our information. People have started to approximate this desire and take baby steps towards customizing their AI tools with their data.
They've copied their context into prompts, or manually uploaded their files with each query.
They've tried connecting individual apps to individual other AI apps.
They've hired consultants and paid for "special" databases to make it easier.
They've made up names like RAG, agentic retrieval and context engineering.
They've gone through months-long integration processes every time a company wants to try a new tool.
They've come up with standards like MCP, ACP or other API wrappers to incentivize easy connections.
This concept could exist within a single ecosystem like ChatGPT connectors, but we hope for a world where there are still countless tools built by those with differing opinions. That world is only possible if you can easily bring your data to those tools.
We have a tiny window right now to sprint towards that more idyllic future.
One where a thousand flowers can bloom in freedom. Otherwise, the large players will aggregate that data into an insurmountable advantage, stifling choice and eliminating strategic flexibility.
The future of software that we want to live in requires portable data.
Data that moves with each person or company from tool to tool, model experience to model experience.
What we need is a single magical personal library
One you can add to from anywhere
And plug into any software tool you may want to use
One that auto-organizes your information
So you can browse it, audit it and know it's reliable
And that you can permission and monitor centrally
So you know it's safe every time you use it
Pacific is working towards this future of a magical personal library for each of us.
